How it works

Each TV uses Roku as the only input — there is no cable, antenna, or other device to switch between. Everything you watch goes through Roku.

Guest mode — bring your own accounts

The Roku players are set to guest mode, which means no streaming accounts are pre-loaded. To watch Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, or any other service, open the app on the Roku home screen and sign in with your own credentials.

Your logins are private and stay on the device only for the duration of your stay. When you check out, Roku guest mode automatically wipes all account sessions — you do not need to manually sign out of anything before leaving.

Free channels

Several free streaming services are available without signing in — including Tubi, Pluto TV, and The Roku Channel. These are on the Roku home screen and work immediately with no account required.

Living room TV

The living room has the full-featured Roku. The Roku remote handles everything — including powering the TV on and off. You do not need the LG TV remote for normal use.

The LG TV remote is available in the room if you need it, but in most cases the Roku remote is the only one you will reach for.

Bedroom TV

The bedroom uses a Roku Express. The Roku Express remote handles navigation and playback, but does not control TV power or volume. Use two remotes:

Turn the TV on with the LG remote — it boots directly into Roku. Then set the LG remote aside and use the Roku remote for everything else.

Sunroom TV

Same setup as the bedroom — Roku Express with two remotes.

Turn on with the LG remote, then use the Roku remote from there. The sunroom TV sits alongside the mini-split — see the mini-split guide if you need to cool the room while watching.

Finding the remotes

Every remote — both the LG TV remotes and the Roku remotes — is labeled with the room it belongs to. If a remote is not where you expect it, check near or on top of the TV, or in the drawer or table closest to the set.

Please keep remotes in their labeled rooms when you are done. It makes it easy for the next guests (and for us) to find everything in the right place.

Signing into streaming apps

1. From the Roku home screen, find the app you want (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc.) and select it.
2. If it is not already installed, select it from the Roku Channel Store — free to add.
3. Sign in with your own account credentials. Your login is stored only on that device and only for the duration of your stay.
4. Watch normally. When you check out, Roku guest mode clears all sessions automatically — no manual sign-out needed.

If an app asks you to activate

Some apps (like HBO Max or Peacock) use an activation code rather than a direct login. When prompted, go to the activation URL on your phone or laptop, enter the code shown on the TV screen, and the app will connect. This is normal Roku behavior, not a property-specific limitation.

Troubleshooting

TV won't turn on

For the living room, make sure you are using the Roku remote (not the LG remote). For the bedroom and sunroom, use the LG TV remote for power — the Roku Express remote does not control the TV itself.

Black screen — TV is on but nothing shows

The TVs boot directly to Roku, so a black screen usually means Roku has not finished loading. Wait 20–30 seconds after powering on. If the screen stays black, unplug the Roku device from the back of the TV (the small stick or box connected by HDMI), wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.

Roku is frozen or unresponsive

Press the Home button on the Roku remote to return to the home screen. If the remote is not responding, check that you are using the correct Roku remote for that TV — they are labeled. If the Roku itself is frozen, unplug it from power, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.

Remote is not working

Make sure you are in the same room as the TV — Roku Express remotes require line of sight. Check that you have the right remote for that room (all are labeled). If the remote still does not respond, the batteries may need replacing — spares are in the kitchen utility drawer.

Can't find a channel or app

From the Roku home screen, scroll down to the search icon or navigate to the Channel Store to find and install any app. Most major streaming services are available.
