Daikin Mini-Split

The Daikin mini-split provides independent heating and cooling for the sunroom and is fully operated by its remote control. It works separately from the main house thermostat.

Using the remote

The remote control is the only way to operate the mini-split. It should be in the sunroom — check the side table or window ledge.

Pointing the remote

Aim the remote at the indoor unit (the white rectangular unit mounted near the top of the wall). The unit will emit a short beep to confirm it received the command. If there is no beep, move closer and try again.

Turning the unit on and off

Press the ON/OFF button once to turn the unit on. Press it again to turn it off. The unit will beep and the display panel on the indoor unit will illuminate when it is running.

Remote batteries

If the remote does not respond or the display is dim, the batteries may need replacement. Contact us and we will replace them promptly.

Modes

Press the MODE button to cycle through the available operating modes.

Cool

Air conditioning mode. The unit will cool the sunroom to the temperature you set. Use this during warm or sunny weather when the sunroom heats up.

Heat

Heating mode. The unit will warm the sunroom to the temperature you set. Effective for extending sunroom comfort into cooler months.

Auto

The unit automatically switches between heating and cooling to maintain your setpoint. Useful when temperatures shift between day and evening.

Dry

Reduces humidity in the room without significant cooling. The unit runs at low capacity to remove moisture from the air. Useful on humid days when the sunroom feels damp or sticky but cooling is not needed.

Fan

Runs the fan only with no heating or cooling. Circulates air in the sunroom without changing the temperature.

Temperature and fan speed

Setting the temperature

Press the ▲ (up) button to raise the setpoint or the ▼ (down) button to lower it. The setpoint appears on the remote's display. The unit will beep each time it receives the command.

The remote displays temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius depending on how it is configured. If you need to switch units, contact us.

Fan speed

Press the FAN button to cycle through fan speeds:

  • Auto — the unit adjusts fan speed automatically based on how far the room is from the setpoint. Recommended for most use.
  • Quiet — the lowest speed, nearly silent. Good for sleeping or when noise is a concern.
  • Low / Medium / High — progressively more airflow and faster temperature change.

Airflow direction

Press the SWING button to toggle the vertical airflow vanes between a fixed position and a continuous up-and-down sweep. Swing mode distributes air more evenly around the room. A fixed angle directed downward works well for cooling; directed more level or upward works better for heating.

Tips for the sunroom

Cooling on sunny days

The sunroom receives direct sun and can heat up quickly. On bright days, Cool mode at a moderate setting (72–76°F) with fan speed on Auto will work efficiently. Closing the sunroom door from the rest of the house while cooling helps the mini-split reach the setpoint faster.

Heating in cooler weather

Mini-splits are efficient heaters. Set the mode to Heat and give the unit 10 to 15 minutes to warm the space. For faster results, use a higher fan speed until the room is comfortable, then switch to Auto.

Turning the unit off when not in use

The sunroom mini-split operates independently and will continue running until you turn it off. When leaving the sunroom for an extended time, press ON/OFF to turn the unit off.

Troubleshooting

Unit does not respond to the remote

Aim directly at the indoor unit and move closer — the remote has a limited range. Check that the remote display lights up when you press a button. If the display is dark or very dim, the batteries need replacing; please contact us.

Unit is running but not cooling or heating effectively

Confirm the mode is set correctly (Cool or Heat, not Fan or Dry). Check that the sunroom door and any windows are closed so the conditioned air is not escaping. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the room to reach the setpoint.

The unit displays an error code or flashes its indicator lights

Turn the unit off using the remote, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. If the error persists, note any codes or light patterns and contact us.

The unit is making an unusual noise

A low hum and airflow sound are normal. Occasional gurgling or a refrigerant flow sound during start-up is also normal for mini-splits. Loud rattling, grinding, or persistent clicking should be reported to us.
